How To Import EIT UVIMAP UV Intensity and Temperature Date Into Quattro Pro (for DOS) and Create a Simple Graph
- Download the data file from the UVIMAP into an ASCII file, using the UVIMAP software
- Save the ASCII file into a directory such as C:/QPRO/UV and name the file with a date code (e.g. 060196) for ease in tracking
- Open the Quattro Pro spreadsheet program
- Place the cursor in the A1 cell of the spreadsheet
- Type "T", "I", and "C"
- Type in the drive/directory/filename of the downloaded ASCII data file immediately after the C: (you can backspace over the information already displayed there), OR use the arrow buttons to scroll through to the correct drive, directory and file where you stored the ASCII data file, and press the "Enter" key
- After importing, you will see 2 columns. The left column is the sample number, while the right column contains the actual sample values. Hit "Escape" twice
- Position the cursor on the "1" (one) in the first column of numbers. Type "/G?, then "S", then "X"
- Type "." (period), then hit the "End" and "Arrow Down" keys. Hit the "Enter" key. This will highlight all the sample numbers in the UV measurement group. Hit "Escape" twice
- To define the 1st series of data points (your UV data), place the cursor on the first number in the second (data) column. Type "/G", then "S", then "1" (one)
- Press the "." (period) key, hit the "End" and "Down Arrow" keys, and hit "Enter". This will highlight all the data in the UV measurement group. Hit "Escape" twice
- Next, type "/G", then "Enter", then "X". (Choosing the x-y option allows for manual scaling of the x-axis.) Hit "Enter"
- If you are not including temperature on this graph, skip to #14 now. If you wish to overlay your temperature data on the same graph, hit "Escape". Position the cursor on the first number in the second group of numbers in the B column. Type "/G", then "S", then "2" (two). Type "." (period), then hit the "End" and "Arrow Down" keys. Hit "Enter". This will highlight all the numbers in the temperature data group. Hit "Escape" twice
- You can name your graph now. Type "/G", "N", "C", and type in the field name, and press the "Enter" key.
- You can now view the graph by typing "V"
- Save your file now if you plan to keep it. Hit "Escape", "/F", "S", and enter the file directory and name.
- To exit Quattro Pro, hit "Escape", "/F", "X".
Similar procedures can be used in other spreadsheets.
