Which On-Line Lamp Monitoring System Should I Use?

 


WHAT THEY ALL HAVE IN COMMON

In each system, the Compact Sensors are mounted permanently looking at the UV source. Each sensor comes with a mounting bracket to assist in mounting.

Each system reads in relative intensity. The Compact Sensor is filtered to read UV within a certain bandwidth of interest. The readout represents a percentage of a lamp's 100% original UV output.


ONLINE UV INTENSITY DISPLAY MODULE

This online monitoring system can be retrofitted to existing machinery or incorporated directly into equipment design. Each small monitor can be front panel mounted so that the percentage of original output displayed on its LED can be constantly viewed and assessed by the user. Outputs allow the result to be fed into a strip chart recorder, PLC, computer, or other data collection device.

The unit also features a user settable threshold, green above threshold and red below threshold indicators as well as an alarm relay.

Each Online UV Intensity Display Module requires a power source of 20-28 volts, AC or DC.

ONLINE UV INTENSITY DISPLAY MODULES are ideal for single lamp and multi-lamp systems. Cut-outs need to be made in the equipment control panel. A multiple lamp system requires multiple cut-outs (one monitor per lamp). The number of cut-outs is only limited by the available front panel area of the equipment.

Each Online UV Intensity Display Module comes with a Compact Sensor to monitor an individual UV bulb. Each sensor has 10 feet of cabling. Additional cabling can be provided.

 


 

DIN RAIL MOUNT UV INTENSITY MONITOR

 

The intent of this on-line system is to be able to monitor a multitude of lamps by snapping individual modules onto a rail which is normally mounted in the rear or side of the equipment. This system is available for use in integrated monitoring and control systems containing analog signal processing and shared display capability. DIN Rail Mount UV Intensity Monitor does NOT have a display.

Each module which can be rail mounted allows for monitoring of a single UV lamp. The length of the rail determines how many modules can be mounted. This means that many UV lamps can be monitored by DIN Rail Mounted UV Intensity Monitors in a minimal amount of space.

The 0-10V output provided by this type of monitor is intended to be fed into a strip chart recorder, PLC, computer or other data collection device. A low limit user-settable threshold with alarm relay is provided.

Calibration to initial 10 volts can be accomplished by the use of a voltmeter.

Each monitor requires a power source of 20-28 volts AC or DC.

DIN mountable configurations are ideal for multi-lamp systems. Although Online UV Intensity Display Modules can also be used for multi-lamp systems, front panel mounting can become a problem if large numbers of cut-outs are required. This may neither be feasible nor desirable. DIN Rail Mount UV Intensity Monitors should be considered in this application.

MULTIBRITE

 

MULTIBRITE is a top of the line UV lamp monitoring system which can monitor up to four lamps at a time on-line. MULTIBRITE is flexible. The enclosure can be built into the equipment allowing the user to view the front display panel, or it can stand alone on top of or near the equipment. Its front display shows the output of any one of four lamps. MULTIBRITE is designed to provide a user settable threshold and sounds an alarm when any lamp falls below this threshold. There is also an independent low level audible alarm for each channel which can be disabled from the front panel (locally) or silenced remotely. An LED Alarm Indicator is also provided. The alarm enable delay allows the lamps to reach full intensity without setting off the low level alarm. MULTIBRITE's front display shows the percentage of original output for any lamp being monitored.

0-10 volts and 4-20 milliamp outputs allow interfacing with a strip chart recorder, PLC, computer or other data collection device.

The unit is powered by 110 VAC or 220 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz.

MULTIBRITE systems are cascadable.

MULTIBRITE was designed to monitor four lamps at a time. However, MULTIBRITE is cascadable, meaning that multiple lamps (more than four lamps) can be monitored by several MULTIBRITE systems, each interconnected so that any lamp dropping below threshold will set off an alarm.

MULTIBRITE's advantages:

  • Incorporating the system into one's equipment involves far less wiring than purchasing several Online UV Intensity Display Modules. MULTIBRITE is virtually ready for hookup whereas each Online UV Intensity Display Module would require separate wiring.
  • A common alarm system is already a built-in feature of MULTIBRITE. Online UV Intensity Display Modules or DIN Rail Mount UV Monitors would have to be wired together to an external alarm to accomplish the same feature.
  • Each MULTIBRITE can accommodate up to four Compact Sensors. Each Compact Sensor monitors an individual UV bulb. These sensors come with 10 feet of cabling. Additional cabling is available.
  • MULTIBRITE provides more features than DIN Rail Mount UV Intensity Monitor or Online UV Intensity Display Module.
