Optical Engineer, Calibration

EIT LLC, is a rapidly growing Electronics Manufacturing and Engineering Services Company near Dulles Airport.

Job Summary

  •  Responsible for technical operations in busy calibration lab focusing on UV radiometers
  • Lead technical resource for calibration lab
  • Position requires interaction and technical support with customers

Education Requirements
Physics degree with Optics/Electrical Engineering experience preferred; EE degree with extensive Optics experience.

Experience Requirements
2+ Years of Optical, Metrology and/or Engineering experience in an Industrial/Commercial work setting

Essential Functions

  • Monitors and maintains calibration standards, calibration process and associated equipment (UV sources, transfer standards)
  • Provides technical support to technicians performing UV instrument services
  • Interacts with internal engineering group to develop calibration processes and work on R&D projects
  • Develops and maintains calibration work instructions
  • Interacts with licensed calibration labs

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Experience and ability to use lab instruments (spectral radiometers) to characterize optical components
  • Ability to design experiments to collect, organize, interpret and present data from instruments
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of applicable ISO processes (ISO 9001)
  • Previous experience with ISO 17025, NIST and Metrology lab procedures desired
  • Ability to read schematics and perform basic EE calculations
  • Familiarity with industrial UV curing radiometers and processes a plus
  • Main focus of the calibration lab is UV but the lab also currently performs temperature measurements

Working Conditions

  • 40 hours in office and lab environment
  • Occasional travel to conferences, trade shows and customers is possible
  • Overtime expected when necessary
